We spent about three hours on Saturday night. First the upper longerons were drilled to the pilot side skin, then the bottom longerons were transfered to the side skins. After that the torque tube bearing and doubler were deburred, zinced and riveted together.

When transferring the longerons, the best thing to do is to use a helper and hold the bottom skin next the to side skin to help accurately determine the position of the longeron on the side skin. In addition, use a Sharpie to mark the edge of the skin against the longerons and the position of the bulkhead rivet lines for additional accuracy.

A fellow EAA chapter member gave me a generous ride down to Portland in his RV-7A. That is a nice flying plane. The control was so nice I believe I need to fly down to Oregon again to get a factory ride in the RV-8... because it's never too soon to think about the next project.
